New Nuclear

Focus on SMRs

France reaffirmed its support for the nuclear sector during the announcement at the recent World Nuclear Exhibition of 6 new winners of the "Innovative Nuclear Reactors" call for projects of the France 2030 support plan. Created at the initiative of France, the European Nuclear Alliance now comprises 14 states committed to imposing technological neutrality in European texts to decarbonize economies.

Among the subjects we will be attentive to in 2024:

  1. How this technological neutrality will be implemented at the French level: integration of nuclear energy into the heat fund for heat-generating reactors, development of the Corporate PPA guarantee fund for "small" nuclear energy, or even a possible counterpart to the law on accelerating renewables for SMRs.

  2. The resources allocated to the ASN and ISRN in the event of their possible merger, to address the increasing demand for instruction from SMR developers.

  3. At the European level, the ability to create a true industrial alliance (possibly through the creation of a IPCEI to be confirmed in 2024), allowing to face American and Chinese competition
